Change into Assertive Sentence
Structure: Subject+ say/said or tell/told +object (যদি থাকে )+that+R.S এর subject +verb+ extension
Direct : Kamal said to Badal , “ I shall go to school tomorrow.”
Indirect : Kamal said to Badal that he(K) would go to school the next day.
Change into Interrogative Sentence
Structure: Subject +ask/inquire of/want to know/demand/wonder +object (যদি থাকে)+if/whether(Auxiliary verb থাকলে)+R.S এর Subject +verb+ extension
- Sentence টি assertive sentence এ change করতে হবে।
Direct: Tom said to me, “Do you want to sit here?”
Indirect: Tom asked me whether I wanted to sit there.
Structure: Subject +ask+ object (যদি থাকে) + Interrogative Pronoun/Adverb +R.S এর Subject +verb+ extension
- wh-word = who, whom, when, how, where, what, whose, which, why
Direct: I said to the man, “Where is the hotel?”
Indirect: I asked the man where the hotel was.
Change into Imperative Sentence
Structure: Subject+ request/order/advice/tell +object (যদি থাকে) + to +R.S এর verb+ extension
- অনুরোধ বুঝালে request,
- আদেশ বুঝালে order/command,
- উপদেশ বুঝালে advise,
- কিছু না বুঝালে tell , বারন করা বুঝালে forbid বসবে।
Direct: The man said, “Please, bring me a chair.”
Indirect: The man requested to bring him a chair.
Direct: Father said to his son, “Don’t quarrel.”
Indirect: Father forbade his son to quarrel.
Imperative Sentence – টি যদি negative হয় তবে not+to হয়।
Direct :The teacher said to the student, “Do not tell a lie.”
Indirect : The teacher advised the student not to tell a lie.
Imperative Sentence – এ Direct speech – এ সম্মোধন করা বুঝালে:-
Structure: Addressing + R.V এর - object (যদি থাকে) +as+যাকে /যাদেরকে সম্মোধন করা হয় সেই word +R.V –এর subject +R.Verb+ to+ R.S এর verb+ extension
Direct: The man said , “Friends, please help me.”
Indirect : Addressing them as friends, the man requested them to help him.
Imperative Sentence – এ Direct speech – এ sir থাকলে sir - word change করে respectfully (with respect) বসবে।
Direct: The boy said to the teacher, “ Sir, lend me your book please.”
Indirect: The boy requested the teacher respectfully (with respect) to lend him (b) his (t) book .
Use of Let :
Structure : subject+ propose/ proposed+ that +they/we+ should +R.S এর verb+ extension
Direct: He said to me, “ Let us go out for a walk.”
Indirect: He proposed to me that we should go out for a walk.
Or
Structure : subject+ propose or proposed/ suggest or suggested+ object +gerund(verb + ing) +extension
Direct: I said to him, “Let us play.”
Indirect: I suggested him playing.
Let দিয়ে যখন প্রস্তাব না বোঝায় :
Structure : subject+ R.verb +object (যদি থাকে) that +R.S এর Subject + might+ verb+ extension
Direct: Anik said to me , “ Let him say whatever he likes.”
Indirect : Anik told me that he might say whatever he liked.
Change into optative Sentence
Structure: Subject+ pray or prayed/wish or wished+ that +R.S এর Subject +may/might +verb+ extension
Sentence টি assertive sentence এ change করতে হবে।
Example: Direct: Mother said to me , “May you pass the exam.”
Indirect : Mother prayed that I might pass the exam.
Change into Exclamatory Sentence
Structure: Subject+ exclaim/exclaimed with joy or exclaim/exclaimed with sorrow/grief or exclaim /exclaimed that +R.S এর Subject+ verb+ (very/great)+ Adjective+ extension
Direct : The man said, “Alas! I am undone.”
Indirect: The man exclaimed with sorrow that he was undone.
Reported Speech এ How or what থাকলে indirect speech এ very/great বসবে।
Direct: Farid said , “ What a fine bird it is.”
Indirect: Farid exclaimed with joy that it was a very fine bird.
